About THE studio
loam is a contemporary ceramics studio on the border of Hampshire and West Sussex, run by husband and wife, Jack and Vanessa. Having worked in financial services for nearly 10 years, Jack recently left his job in London to run the studio full time and continue developing the business.
The studio is located in a beautiful converted barn in the South Downs, just outside Petersfield. The studio runs a variety of pottery throwing courses, as well as providing a small number of open access memberships for part-time potters wanting a space to do their own work. The space has 7 pottery wheels, a 95L kiln, and various tables and storage space.
All pieces sold by the studio are made by Jack on a potter’s wheel before being fired twice in the kiln. Every piece has its own unique characteristics and personality.
The studio focuses on producing functional stoneware items for use all over the home. After spending time in the UK, Scandinavia and Asia the inspiration for loam products comes from many sources. However, we have a focus on clean, simple designs and colours.
